Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Is Here, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is set to release close to the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
The company has a trio of new releases officially announced for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
