BF6 Players Are Convinced: Missions Are Overly Demanding
The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, many players are protesting against some of the game's hardest challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.
Users have commenced resorting to personalized games created through the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how grueling these missions have become.
Grasping BF6 Objectives
Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four classes of assignments, but where most only reward cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of getting 12 of the 41 key firearms available in the game.
A number of these gated guns might eventually earn a place on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration on Reddit
On Reddit, players are justifiably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. A particular gamer emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Extremely Difficult Task
Another Reddit user brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons
This is challenging enough as it is, but there's one more key thing to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at those extended distances.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and possibly an additional option if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.
The Bypass
There is a workaround though: the portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This means you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.
But when tackling the tasks in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for completing them in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
Future Adjustments
It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, certain gamers simply will never acquire the gated weapons.
For now, the player base continues to express their views on these demanding multiplayer missions, anticipating a more balanced player experience in coming revisions.
